Karl is a 40-year resident of Frederick County. He built his family and raised his sons here. He’s worked for five decades in various aspects of law enforcement, including over eight years with the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department, 16 years with DOJ, and Chief of Law Enforcement Operations for the Frederick County, MD Sheriff’s Office where he was second in command.

He’s been a police officer on the beat, an operations and investigations leader, a teacher, a policy analyst, and a consultant to police departments and law enforcement agencies nationwide and abroad.

The challenges Frederick County will face in the coming years are best-addressed openly and directly, employing a wide range of law enforcement skills, experience and service-orientation that Karl brings to the table.
